Carlton is in a bad patch of form, and ever since their scintillating first quarter against the Giants two weeks ago, theyve been unable to maintain pressure around the contest they were elite at in the last two months.
Its not the worst time of the year to be in a slump, and theyll look to pick it back up against the Roos this week, who were blitzed by the Swans at the SCG.
The Roos were unable to defend multiple goal threats, and if the Blues are to win comfortably thats the route theyll have to take, rather than giving the Roos only two targets to think about.
Carltons ball movement was lacking conviction against the Dogs, and their inability to defend the centre stoppage surges towards defensive 50 made the task to rebound entries even harder.
North Melbourne was outclassed when these two sides met last on Good Friday, as the Blues kicked at least five goals in every quarter.
The selection table becomes an interesting watch for the Blues, who need to get the balance right in the midfield, unable to stamp authority against the Dogs.
The output from North Melbournes bottom end hasnt been substantial enough to carry out games against top sides, but when theyre able to get involved they certainly remain more competitive.
On paper, the Blues shouldnt have too many issues, but with form not in their favour, and a certainly improved North side from the start of the year, this could be more interesting than expected.
