Two long-time rivals wrap up Gather Round in what is shaping up to be an easy win for the Pies.

Hawthorn’s best footy has only come in spurts this year, losing by 36 to Geelong on Easter Monday despite mounting a lukewarm comeback during the third quarter.

The Pies are well-rested off their Easter Thursday win over the Lions, a game that has left us with plenty to dissect.

Blowing an early lead and then pulling clear to eventually win by 20 points can be good or bad, depending on you look at it. But overall, it was encouraging to see the reigning premier’s respond to pressure despite losing the inside 50 count by a big margin.

The Hawks have shown signs of progress, but they continue to give up large chunks of goals in a hurry.

Opponents scoring off stoppages is turning into a real problem for Sam Mitchell, and until they show they’re capable of matching some of these bigger opponents like they did last year, I’m happy to back against the Hawks.
