Collingwood Magpies vs Richmond Tigers Preview
Another Friday night belter is upon us with the Pies and Tigers meeting at the ‘G.
Another stirring win over Port Adelaide last week has seen Collingwood firm into Premiership favouritism, and based on the scintillating brand of footy the Pies are playing right now, it’s hard to argue.
Speaking of the market, Nick Daicos is among the favourites to win the Brownlow following a two-goal, 32-disposal clinic. Elsewhere, the Pies resembled a well-oiled machine, smashing Port Adelaide in clearances with dazzling ball movement to compliment.
The Tigers came good last week with a comfortable win over the Crows in Adelaide, but it was touch and go at times.
Richmond led by as many as nine goals at the half-time break, only to allow a third-quarter surge that had to put a scare into Damien Hardwick.
It’s plainly clear that Richmond has some serious issues down back, and one has to wonder if the Crows were capable of playing four quarters – or just kicking straight – whether they would have won that game.
To make matters worse, Hardwick now has some serious injury concerns with Dustin Martin subbed out in the fourth quarter following a hamstring complaint. He’ll likely join Nathan Broad, who is set to spend several weeks on the sideline following a dangerous sling tackle.
The Pies continue to tick all the boxes, and really, I can’t see myself tipping against them anytime soon. The fact Jack Ginnivan could struggle to get a game in this side says it all, not to mention the fact they are the only club averaging 20 goals a game so far.
Richmond is still leaving a lot to be desired for mine, and it feels like they haven’t quite clicked through the midfield just yet. With some serious personnel concerns, the current line in favour of the Pies is almost generous in my opinion.
