Cox back for AFL Pies, Yeo out for Eagles

Collingwood giant Mason Cox will play his first AFL game in six weeks when the Magpies face Melbourne in the Queen’s Birthday clash at the MCG.

The Pies will also welcome back young midfielder Brayden Sier, who has not played a senior game since last year’s grand-final loss to West Coast.

Veteran forward Ben Reid has been omitted for Monday’s game while Sier comes in for Dayne Beams, who will likely miss the rest of the season after undergoing hip surgery.

Melbourne confirmed the return of key defensive duo Jake Lever and Steven May among four changes.

Lever will play his first game since tearing his ACL midway through last season, while injuries have restricted May to just one game in Demons colours.

The Demons also named Christian Salem and Marty Hore while dropping Josh Wagner, Jay Kennedy Harris, Oscar McDonald and Billy Stretch.

West Coast meanwhile swung a late change for Sunday’s clash with Sydney, with reigning best and fairest winner Elliot Yeo succumbing to a calf strain.

Josh Smith was named as his replacement.

The Eagles are already without skipper Shannon Hurn (hamstring) and tall forward Oscar Allen (ankle), having named Josh Rotham and Tom Hickey as their replacements.
