Carlton key forward Charlie Curnow is confident he has avoided a season-ending knee injury in Saturday’s AFL win over Port Adelaide.
But the Power fear that they have lost defender Jack Watts for the rest of 2019 with a broken leg.
Curnow hurt his right knee in the Adelaide Oval game and there were concerns that he might have ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament, meaning a knee reconstruction.
But Curnow was upbeat on Sunday morning after scans.
“That’s all cleared, I’m pretty sure,” Curnow told Channel Nine.
“It feels pretty good; I just pulled up a bit sore last night.”
While the Blues might only be without Curnow for a couple of weeks, the Power are bracing for bad news on Watts.
Speaking after Saturday’s game, Port coach Ken Hinkley said it looked a similar injury to the one that has sidelined teammate Charlie Dixon.
He was hurt in round 21 last season and is yet to return, with more surgery last week further delaying Dixon’s comeback.
