Sydney co-captain and key defender Dane Rampe has won the Swans’ AFL club champion award, the Bob Skilton Medal, for the first time.
Rampe, who played all but one of the Swans’ 22 games, polled 581 votes, 120 clear of midfielder George Hewett (461) followed by another on-baller and co-captain Luke Parker (458) and forward Tom Papley (457).
The 29-year-old back also claimed the best clubman award and the players’ player honours at the Club Champion Dinner on Tuesday evening and was presented with Sydney Swans life membership.
The local Sydney product this year also made the greatest NSW team of all time and was a member of the 40-man All Australian squad.
In other club awards, Jordan Dawson won most improved player after a breakout season and impressive first-year player Nick Blakey was the rising star.
