Dangerfield free, Setterfield cops AFL ban

Geelong star Patrick Dangerfield has avoided AFL suspension and remains eligible for the Brownlow Medal after being fined for striking.

Dangerfield has been fined $2000 for striking GWS tagger Matt de Boer in the midriff during Saturday’s game at GMHBA Stadium. A second strike on de Boer was deemed to be of insufficient force and did not attract a sanction.

Carlton’s Will Setterfield faces a two-match ban for a tackle that concussed Gold Coast opponent Wil Powell, while North Melbourne’s Luke McDonald has been offered a one-match suspension for a late hit on Adelaide’s Chayce Jones.
