Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir has added former Geelong star Joel Corey to his new-look coaching ranks.
Corey, a three-time premiership player with Geelong, has joined Fremantle as a development coach.
The 38-year-old joined the Western Bulldogs’ coaching ranks following his retirement in 2013, but was let go earlier this year due to COVID-19 cost-cutting measures.
Corey joins former Bulldogs star Matthew Boyd as new arrivals under Longmuir.
The duo replace Michael Prior and Anthony Rock, who were both let go by Fremantle earlier this year.
“I feel I’ve grown as a coach,” Corey said.
“Sometimes when you’re new in coaching you feel like you’re not aware of a lot of things and as the years go on, all the different experiences you’ve had, your awareness grows and you can react or be proactive in different situations.
“Wherever I’ve been, there’s been a determination to put in the hard work and it’s nice when you get to enjoy the fruits of that, but nothing happens without that hard work.”
