Geelong defender Corey Enright expects to know by Wednesday whether he will be available for the Friday night AFL preliminary final against Hawthorn.
Enright is in a race against time to recover from the knee injury he suffered in the qualifying final loss to Fremantle.
One of Geelong’s most important players missed the semi-final win over Port Adelaide and is considered doubtful to return for the Hawks.
But Enright remains hopeful.
“It’s hard to say, it’s day-by-day,” he said at Monday night’s All-Australian awards.
“I just have to keep doing what I can do … and see what happens later in the week.
Enright said he would probably train on Tuesday or Wednesday.
“I will keep progressing and just have to wait and see,” he said.
“It’s improving each day – that’s all you can ask at this stage.”
Geelong suffered another blow on Monday when forward Paul Chapman was suspended.
Chapman can accept a one-game ban and risks a two-game penalty if he goes to the tribunal.
“He was in some good form on Friday night – he’s obviously going to be hard to replace,” Enright said of Chapman.
