Giants’ Greene to miss another AFL month

Injured Greater Western Sydney forward Toby Greene is still another month away from resuming AFL action.

Greene has missed the past six matches with a foot injury and coach Leon Cameron doesn’t expect him back soon.

“He is good one week, he probably struggles the next,” Cameron said after the Giants’ stirring away triumph over Adelaide on Sunday.

“So probably not going to see some action from Toby until a couple of weeks after the bye.”

GWS host Gold Coast this Saturday and then have their bye weekend.

Cameron said midfielder Tom Scully (ankle) was at least six weeks away from returning but Adam Kennedy will this weekend make his comeback after a knee reconstruction, and Matt de Boer is a chance to resume from a hamstring strain.

The Giants recorded their first win over the Crows in Adelaide on Sunday to end a four-game losing sequence.

GWS kicked the last three goals in a gritty performance which left Cameron proud – and wanting more.

“There’s no doubt we have got to bring that level of resilience on a more consistent level,” Cameron said.

“It’s probably one of our better wins for a number of years.”

But Cameron will seek out the AFL umpiring department after losing the free kick count 13-27 to the Crows.

“There is no doubt we will address it Monday, Tuesday, with the guys in the umpiring department,” Cameron said.

“They do a fantastic job, it’s a tough game to umpire.

“We have just got to make sure that we are taking care of ourselves. And if we have given away a lot of silly free kicks, then we have got to address it.”
