Are the Suns contenders or pretenders?

It’s the question on everyone’s lips following a potentially season-defining win over the Dogs, a result that has inspired faith in Gold Coast maybe sneaking into the eight for the first time in their short history.

After fading late in the Q-Clash a week earlier, the Suns ran out narrow seven-point winners thanks to a handy five-goal game from Jack Lukosius, as well as another special performance from Matt Rowell.

Now, the Suns set their sights on one of the in-form teams in the competition – an Adelaide side that looks every bit a Premiership contender.

The Crows made a bold statement downing the Lions by 17 points last week, and while they’ve had their fair share of struggles away from home, there’s plenty to like about what Matthew Nicks is beginning to achieve.

Adelaide’s midfield is firing on all cylinders, and although the Suns get plenty of the ball inside 50, the Crows’ forward line should pose a serious challenge to a side that has given up big totals to Brisbane, Freo, and Essendon this year.

How the Crows handle the humid conditions in Darwin is the question though, as well as the potential absence of Rory Laird.

Adelaide simply failed to get off the bus in Ballarat a fortnight ago, so this foreign away ground could pose a few challenges.

With that said, the Suns have a tendency to go missing late in games, making them a risky proposition in match betting.

One stat worth noting is that both Adelaide and the Gold Coast rank top five in clearances, so this could be a fast game with a lot of back-and-forth chances.
