Preview:

Well this is it. Can the Giants register a win in season 2013?

They face the equally poor Melbourne who has only managed three wins themselves this year.

One of those wins came over GWS back in round 4 this year (144 – 103) where they had to come from behind at the final break. That made it three wins from as many games against the GWS for the Demons.

Both sides are coming of massive losses last week, GWS – 40 points to Sydney and Melbourne 102 to Geelong and it’s hard to find an aspect of either team’s performances this year that would give them an advantage of the other here.

It may lay in the defensive record, with GWS have conceded almost 300 points more than Melbourne this season.

This match counts for nothing but it should be competitive and as much as I’d love to GWS get on the board this year, the Demons should prevail, albeit just.

AFL’s Demons lose Frawley for 3-4 weeks

Melbourne key defender James Frawley will be missing from the AFL for up to a month with a hamstring injury.

It’s a major blow for the Demons leading into Saturday’s bottom-of-the-table clash with winless Greater Western Sydney.

Frawley would have been a likely opponent for Giants young gun Jeremy Cameron, who booted seven goals against Collingwood on Saturday.

The Melbourne defender sustained the injury during Saturday’s crushing 122-point loss to North Melbourne.

Demons football manager Josh Mahoney said Frawley was expected to miss three or four games.

Melbourne will be hoping fellow backman Colin Garland can prove he’s ready to return from an ankle injury to replace Frawley for the Giants clash.
