A pair of single figure wins has the Giants eyeing off a top four spot and they’ll need to win their final three games to make that dream a reality. It all starts on Friday night in Canberra when they host the Hawks.

Narrow victories against Port and the Swans by one and two points respectively has GWS just a game off the top four. They face a Hawks side that is all but out of finals contention after a 22-point loss to the Roos last Friday night.

The Giants record in Canberra in recent times has been better than the Hawks’ at their Launceston fortress, and that’s saying something. A 9-1 record since the 2016 season has seen the Giants winning games in the nation’s capital by an average of more than five goals. The Hawks haven’t visited Canberra for a regular season match in more than a decade.

Hawthorn hasn’t been the punters friend on the line this season, covering just 7 times from 19. The Giants fair much better at 11-8, but didn’t cover last round’s 19.5-point start against the Swans.

The Hawks crushed the Giants in round 8 this season, winning by 33 points in a low scoring match. GWS managed just five goals on that miserable afternoon at the MCG. The Wolf isn’t convinced the Giants can bully the Hawks on a cold, winter’s night in Canberra, but Hawthorn has kept games close all season long and this won’t be any different.
