Hawks sweat on Franklin’s fitness

Hawthorn spearhead Lance Franklin has had scans for a bruised buttock but is confident of playing in Sunday’s AFL clash with Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium.

The Coleman Medal leader, who has kicked 51 goals this season, was subbed out during the third quarter of fifth-placed Hawthorn’s massive win over Greater Western Sydney at the MCG.

“(I have a) little bit of a corky in the buttock, but should be right,” Franklin said on Monday.

Asked again if he’d definitely play this week, Franklin said: Yeah, hope so.”

The star forward said he could do without being under heavy scrutiny from the media.

“No I don’t like it mate, I’d rather just keep it low key, (and) just play football mate,” Franklin told afl.com.au website.
