They were missing their captain James Sicily, but the Hawks were arguably the most disappointing team last week.

Like they’ve done at times all season, Hawthorn burst from the gates kicking three unanswered goals against the Suns, but once momentum swung back in Gold Coast’s favour, the Hawks had no answers on the way to a 67-point defeat.

The Blues won by a similar margin against the Suns the round prior, a relieving win for head coach Michael Voss with the hot seat really warming up.

Carlton’s chances of playing finals still appear small, but with some confidence and fresh legs, this does look a winnable game for the Blues if they can stick to the same attacking game plan that saw them kick 18 goals a fortnight ago.

That said, the Blues haven’t earned our trust just yet, and one look at recent history between these two clubs suggests Carlton might be a little short.

Hawthorn lost by a point in a thriller when they met last year, the second time in their last five meetings that the game has been won by less than a goal.
