The Dees will be hoping to build on last weeks 43-point win over the Dogs when they meet the Hawks on Saturday afternoon.
Big questions still surround the Melbourne forward line, but Simon Goodwins side helped silence some of the doubters with Jacob van Rooyen and Ben Brown getting in on the action last week in front of goal.
Max Gawn also returned to All-Australian form after being embarrassed by Brodie Grundy the week prior, while Clayton Oliver looks to have put his off-field distractions to one side with another big day through the midfield.
Despite losing by three goals in the end, the Hawks showed some promising signs considering they had a long list of outs in their loss to the Bombers.
Like last year, Hawthorn played an aggressive brand of footy on attack, but their backline let them down with Essendon basically matching them goal for goal until the game broke open in the final term.
A suspension cloud around James Sicily places more strain on Hawthorns depth with Will Day and Changkuoth Jiath both still missing due to injury.
On the plus side, if the Hawks kicked straight they may have won last week, but after struggling to win the ruck battle and eventually getting swamped around the stoppages, this shapes as another frustrating afternoon for fans of the brown and gold.
