West Coast will have a distinct North Melbourne feel about it next year, with new coach Adam Simpson recruiting his former Kangaroos teammate Brady Rawlings as an assistant.

Rawlings played 245 games for North Melbourne and won three best-and-fairest awards before retiring at the end of 2011.

The 32-year-old has been a senior recruiter and induction coach at North Melbourne for the past two years, and joins Simpson in West Coast’s new-look coaching set-up following the resignation of John Worsfold.

Simpson, who played alongside Rawlings for 11 years at the Kangaroos, became Worsfold’s successor earlier this month.

Rawlings, who was one of the game’s best taggers during his career, said he was looking forward to reuniting with Simpson.

“I’ve always thought Adam was a senior coach in the making and I’m looking forward to working under someone I respect so highly,” Rawlings said.

“West Coast’s list has an exciting mix of experience and youth and I think we’ll enjoy some great success together.”

Simpson, who replaced John Worsfold as Eagles coach, still has several more appointments to make after losing assistants David Teague and Scott Burns.
