Lyon disappointed by Eagles’ Brayshaw jibe

Fremantle coach Ross Lyon says he’s disappointed that an Eagles player shouted the name of Fremantle’s Andrew Brayshaw in a bid to distract Andrew Gaff during a light-hearted training game.

West Coast uploaded a video of Gaff taking a birthday shot at goal – where he has to spin around several times before attempting to nail the shot.

The video shows Eagles players doing their best to put Gaff off the kick – throwing footballs at him and yelling out various things.

One player twice yells out the name of Brayshaw.

Last year, Gaff copped an eight-week ban for his punch that broke the jaw of Brayshaw and also shattered several teeth.

Gaff ended up missing West Coast’s premiership, while Brayshaw missed the rest of the season and still requires ongoing dental work.

“I’ve heard the video,” Lyon told Channel 7.

“In light of how serious that injury was, and the incident, it’s really disappointing. But I’ll leave that with West Coast.”

Meanwhile, Lyon said Nathan Wilson had been cleared by the club of any wrongdoing after being on the receiving end of a party brawl after last Saturday’s win over Port Adelaide.

Wilson required two stitches to a gash above his eye, but isn’t in doubt to face Melbourne at the MCG on Saturday.

Police are investigating the party incident.

“It’s disappointing, a family barbecue, a 21st,” Lyon said.

“We saw in Victoria a leading policeman walking across an oval and assaulted, so there’s violence in the community.

“You don’t need much to go wrong to be on the end of it, so it’s disappointing it happened to Nathan and thank God he’s OK.”

In better news for Fremantle, ruckman Rory Lobb is expected to return in about four weeks after his foot injury turned out to be less serious than first thought.

The Dockers initially feared Lobb would miss the rest of the season with what looked to be a stress reaction in his foot.

But subsequent tests have shown that it’s actually an impact injury rather than a stress fracture.
