Dale Thomas’ manager has confirmed Carlton are among several clubs chasing the Collingwood AFL star who want to submit him to medical tests next week.
Player agent Paul Connors said the Magpies also plan to run their free agent – recovering from an ankle injury that restricted him to just five AFL games this season – through more medical testing.
He said the 26-year-old premiership star was taking this week off before deciding which suitors to meet with.
“There’s a couple of clubs that might want to (test him) and we’ll look at that next week,” Connors told Melbourne’s SEN radio on Wednesday.
“That’s the beauty of free agency, you’re allowed to have a look.”
The Blues are reportedly set to table an offer worth $3.5 million over five years.
“They want to talk to him,” Connors said.
“Now that the season’s finished there might be an opportunity to do that.”
Meanwhile, Alan Didak’s manager Adam Ramanauskas said the 30-year-old, delisted by the Magpies on Tuesday, was prepared to move anywhere to keep his AFL career alive.
“He just wants to play,” Ramanauskas said.
“He still feels that he’s got a couple of (seasons) to go yet.
“He could still kick 30-35 goals no worries as a higher half-forward and his ball use is still right up there.”
Fellow Magpie discards Darren Jolly, Andrew Krakouer and Jordan Russell also want to play on.
