It’s absolutely tinkering on season over for the Demons, who were yet again destroyed by the Dockers last week.

The Giants were clinical, and that was it, as they were smashed around the contest and killed in inside 50s, but still found a way to win.

Melbourne was punished for having no secondary ruckman, and the loss of Christian Petracca is equally as hurtful to their ability to dominate at the stoppages.

It’s hard to tell what type of Melbourne side will turn up, as it’s not completely season over, but the confidence that they can mingle with the top certainly isn’t there.

The Giants have been able to sustain their pressure around the contest even when losing them, sitting third for tackles laid this season, compared to the Dees who have fallen into the bottom eight.

The inability to defend the key forward targets has been a major issue for the Dees for a few weeks running and the Giants are more of a threat than Fremantle in that department.

There has been a lack of scoring threat on the Demons end, and the midfield stock doesn’t tend to score big either.

The Giants always click at this time of year, and there’s no showing they’ll back down anytime soon.
