Western Bulldogs veteran Dale Morris is a chance to make a fairytale AFL return in Sunday’s clash with St Kilda at Marvel Stadium.
Morris has been named on the Bulldogs’ extended bench for the crunch game, and will find out on Friday whether he has made the final cut.
The 36-year-old’s career looked over when he suffered a partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee at training in March.
Morris decided against surgery, and made a successful return in the VFL last month.
Now he has the chance to play his first game at AFL level since round 23 last season.
But he might find it tough to force his way into a team that have won three games on the trot.
Toby McLean (hamstring) is the only confirmed omission from the team that beat Melbourne by eight points last week.
Rhylee West, Tom Liberatore, Bailey Dale, and Caleb Daniel were all inclusions in the extended 26-man squad, which will be trimmed by four on Friday.
St Kilda have rested Ben Long, and added Doulton Langlands, Matthew Parker, Bailey Rice, Darragh Joyce, and Sam Rowe to their extended squad.
Eagles coach Adam Simpson is considering handing 19-year-old ruckman Bailey Williams a debut for Sunday’s clash with Melbourne in Alice Springs.
West Coast will be without Nic Naitanui (ankle) for potentially the rest of the season, while Jamie Cripps (groin) will miss at least three weeks.
Williams has been added to the Eagles’ extended squad along with Jake Waterman, Jack Petruccelle, Francis Watson, Will Schofield, and Matthew Allen.
Melbourne added Corey Wagner, Josh Wagner, Oskar Baker, and Tim Smith.
Injury-prone midfielder Scott Selwood is a chance to return for Geelong in Sunday’s clash with Hawthorn at the MCG.
Zac Smith, Jake Kolodjashnij, James Parsons, and Sam Simpson were also added to the extended squad.
The Hawks included Jack Gunston, Jonathon Ceglar, James Cousins, and Darren Minchington.
Star Dockers skipper Nat Fyfe will miss Saturday’s crunch clash with Sydney in Perth after requiring a hospital stay to treat his infected elbow.
Aaron Sandilands will return for Fremantle, with the Swans axing Kieren Jack and Ben Ronke among four changes.
The Magpies will be without Darcy Moore (hamstring), Jamie Elliott (soreness), Levi Greenwood (shoulder), and first-gamer John Noble (calf) against the Giants on Saturday.
But skipper Scott Pendlebury has been named just days after undergoing finger surgery.
The Magpies have recalled Jeremy Howe, Taylor Adams, Travis Varcoe, and Flynn Appleby.
The Giants have lost Stephen Coniglio to a knee injury, but will be boosted by the return of ruckman Shane Mumford among three changes.
