The Cats were shown up again defensively against the Dogs, outplayed at home, and find themselves back in the hunting pack inside the top eight.

North Melbourne was stiff against the Blues, hurt by some questionable umpiring decisions late, but stayed in the game and were the better team for the most part.

Geelong is on a 12-game winning streak against the Roos, dating all the way back to Round 15, 2015 when the Roos last won.

You can sense the freedom the Roos are playing with in the backend of this season, unafraid to attack the corridor at any given opportunity, knowing winning or losing has no effect on them.

This aspect spun the Blues, and it certainly could spin the Cats who have found it difficult to defend rapid inside 50 entries.

What the Bulldogs proved is that Geelong can’t defend the tall forward, so a b big performance from Nick Larkey will go a long way to keeping the Roos in the contest.

Conversely, the Roos also struggle to maintain the main key forward, and last time out, Jeremy Cameron had six goals, which is every chance to reoccur.

Cleaning up turnovers is vital for North, and the Cats will definitely punish them in transition if they do.

If you’re going off form, it’s quite hard to pick a definite winner, but the Cats have flexed their muscles against poorer sides even in poor form, so it’s going to take another big effort from the Roos to cause a major upset.

But hey, they’ve got to beat them again at some point, right?
