North Melbourne vs Fremantle Dockers Preview
Two sides on opposite sides of Round 1 blowouts meet under the roof on Saturday afternoon.
The Dockers spoiled many tip sheets last week, running out 23-point winners over Brisbane at home.
Caleb Serong starred with 43 touches, while Nat Fyfe and Hayden Young added some much-needed size to a midfield that hurt Fremantles attack for most of last year.
North, on the other hand, was on the receiving end of a 39-point loss to the Giants, and although many more beatdowns lay ahead, there were still plenty of positives for Alastair Clarkson to take away.
Firstly, the Roos were right in the game midway through the second term before Jesse Hogan took over, while Norths young contingent of George Wardlaw, Luke Davies-Uniacke and Harry Sheezl saw plenty of the footy.
Unfortunately, Norths inexperience down back hurt them when it mattered most, and although the Dockers lack the size of GWS up forward, theyll likely win this game quite well if Serong and Fyfe get their hands on the footy early.
That said, Freo away from home is a different story, while the Shinboners did play some competitive games at Marvel last year.
I think the current line is a little short, but with some decent value on offer for North at +22.5, I think theres every chance they keep improving especially with the Dockers missing a few key defenders due to injury.
