Port Adelaide coach Ken Hinkley says predicted wet weather won’t prompt the Power to change their side for Friday night’s AFL semi-final against Geelong.
Hinkley says he’ll keep the faith in the Port players who upset Collingwood in an elimination bout last weekend.
“We will go in unchanged and look forward to the opportunity to give those boys a chance to play again,” Hinkley told reporters at Adelaide Airport on Thursday.
Rain is forecast in Melbourne for the sudden-death semi-final, but Hinkley said any downpour was unlikely to force a change.
“The weather forecast is predicting quite a bit of rain … but I don’t think anything will change our minds,” he said.
“It (rain) is just something that we have to be mindful of.”
The only alteration to Port’s squad, to be officially released later on Thursday, is in the emergencies with utility Paul Stewart to replace Cameron Hitchcock.
Stewart hasn’t played an AFL game since breaking his left arm in round 19 but has returned to action in state league ranks.
“He is one of our more senior players but his broken wrist has held him out,” Hinkley said of the 77-gamer.
“But his form last week (in the SANFL) was really good.
“He could easily come in and play if we did lose someone overnight with an illness or something like that, he would be a logical replacement.”
