Ricciuto joins Crows board in AFL

Adelaide premiership player and Brownlow Medallist Mark Ricciuto will join the AFL club’s board.

Ricciuto will become a director until an election at the end of the year, which should be a formality for one of the club’s greatest figures.

“From the moment I retired, I wanted to stay involved with the club,” he said in a Crows statement.

“I have now been able to re-shape my business commitments, allowing sufficient time to give this role the energy and effort it deserves.”

His appointment follows the departures of long-time board members and Crows life members Peter Hurley and John Sutton.

Ricciuto played 312 games for the Crows from 1993-2007 and was a member of their 1998 premiership team.

He shared the 2003 Brownlow with Nathan Buckley and Adam Goodes and made eight All Australian teams, one short of the record.

A 2011 AFL Hall Of Fame inductee, Ricciuto is the Crows’ longest-serving captain, holding the role from 2001-07.

He remains prominent in the game as a radio and television commentator, as well as having hotel and property interests.
