Richmond Tigers vs Western Bulldogs Preview
The Tigers have done just enough to maintain their spot in the eight heading into Round 4, but they’ll need to improve on last week’s effort against Collingwood if they wish to fend off the feisty Dogs this week.
Short-handed, Richmond gave Collingwood more than they bargained for in front of a big crowd last Friday night, but the same question marks around the back-line and whether the Tigers are capable of putting up big scores remain.
The Dogs struggled to hit the scoreboard themselves last Thursday, but they managed to when it mattered most, downing the Lions 67-53 in what can only be described as a job-saving win for Luke Beveridge.
It was only one game, but there were shades of the gritty, hard-nosed Bulldogs of old we’ve come to know and love, spearheaded by a best-on-ground performance by none other than Marcus Bontempelli.
To me, the Dogs are being a little hard done by in the market, and even though the Bont and Jamarra Ugle-Hagan were phenomenal, I think last week’s win said more about Brisbane.
If the Dogs can play their old brand of attacking footy they might win this, but they’ll have their work cut out against a Tigers outfit that has not only allowed the second-fewest points in the comp so far, but one that also ranks top five in tackles and clearances.
