The Port Adelaide and St Kilda AFL clubs will play at Adelaide Arena in Shanghai next year, after the South Australian government vowed to continue its naming rights for the stadium.
Premier Steven Marshall’s announcement comes after it was last week confirmed the clubs had committed to play in China for at least the next three years.
“It’s crucial that we foster these trade opportunities with our key trading partner, and we’ve already seen the success that comes with building our cultural ties with China through sport” Mr Marshall said on Monday.
“We want to see this continue to grow year on year.”
The government has committed $350,000 to extend the deal for one season, but has not made any guarantee beyond 2019.
Port Adelaide played the Gold Coast Suns in Shanghai during the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
