Saints’ Carlisle fails in AFL tribunal bid

St Kilda defender Jake Carlisle will serve a two-match ban after failing to have a striking charge downgraded at the AFL tribunal.

Richmond premiership forward Jack Riewoldt was concussed after Carlisle’s clumsy and late attempted spoil during the first quarter of Saturday’s clash at the MCG.

Dermot Dann QC, representing Carlisle, entered a guilty plea and unsuccessfully argued that the impact was medium rather than high.
