Saints start talks on uniting Kings in AFL

St Kilda are talking to Ben King’s management as they try to reunite him with his twin brother and fellow AFL draft top-10 pick Max.

The Saints are making no secret of their bid to lure Ben away from Gold Coast if he decides not to extend when his contract expires next season.

“That’s a pretty clear-cut one – Ben is playing at Gold Coast next year, and if he doesn’t sign and looks to move next year we’ll talk to him,” Saints football manager Simon Lethlean told AFL Trade Radio.

“We look forward to seeing if Max is faster than he is because he reckons he is.”

As trade period opened on Monday morning, Geelong predictably set a lofty asking price for Tim Kelly.

He has nominated West Coast as his preferred destination and the Cats want the Eagles to give up more than two first-round draft picks.

Eagles football manager Craig Vozzo said the initial discussions with Geelong had been positive and he’s hopeful that the deal with go through.

Collingwood small forward Jamie Elliott has told Melbourne he does not want to join them, but Brisbane are optimistic they remain in the hunt for the free agent.

Also, Essendon are adamant that Joe Daniher is going nowhere.

The key forward looms as the big story of the trade period and he confirmed on Saturday that he wants a trade to Sydney.

But the Bombers are determined to hold him to the last year of his current contract.
