Gold Coast co-captain Jarrod Witts has been named the Suns’ Club Champion for the 2019 AFL season.
Witts was ever-present for the Suns this year and dominated the votes, polling 553 to finish well ahead of fellow captain David Swallow (417) and Darcy MacPherson (368).
Witts’ performances in his third season with the Suns were one of the few highlights in an otherwise disappointing campaign for the Gold Coast club where they won just three matches.
It’s the 26-year-old’s first Suns’ Club Champion win, having come equal eighth in last year’s poll.
In other highlights from the Suns’ end of season function on Saturday night, retiring Michael Rischitelli became just the second Suns player to be awarded life membership.
Swallow and vice-captain Touk Miller shared the players’ player award.
