Sydney Stack’s outstanding AFL debut season might have a remarkable ending.
The Richmond utility has been out of action since last month with an ankle injury that needed surgery.
But Tigers coach Damien Hardwick said Stack would train on Friday and try to prove his fitness for the VFL grand final on Sunday against Williamstown at Ikon Park.
If Richmond win through to the AFL grand final and Stack shows he is ready, then he could prove a massive selection story next week.
But coach Damien Hardwick does not want to look too far ahead.
“I think I will cross that bridge when I get to it,” Hardwick said.
“He’s a great player, he’s a big-game player.
“But he’s also coming off a pretty significant injury as well, so we’ll cross our fingers and hope he gets through,
“If we get to make that decision it’s a good one to make.”
Stack, 19, has played 19 games and finished third in the Rising Star voting.
But he had been dropped to the VFL when he suffered his injury.
