Back-to-back games at home might be the only comfort the Eagles can draw heading into another tough round of footy.

To their credit, West Coast wasn’t completely disgraced in a 50-point loss to the Bombers, and for the first time in a while, there is good news on the injury front with Dom Sheed avoiding a serious ankle injury, and Jeremy McGovern also close to returning.

The Eagles will need all that and more if they are to upset the Premiership favourites though, the Pies humming along nicely to the tune of seven straight wins.

On the downside, the Pies have suffered a loss through the midfield with 300-gamer Steele Sidebottom suffering an MCL injury in the win over North, but given Collingwood’s depth, there’s no real reason for concern.

Essendon opened –50.5 favourites against West Coast last week, and it’s fair to say the Pies are a much better team in all facets of the game.

This is another eye-popping number, but for a team that ranks top five in points, inside 50s, goal assists, and fewest points allowed, the Pies should cover – especially after giving away a few cheap goals in the final term last week.
