How the Dogs’ complete no-show against the Crows last week will affect them down the stretch remains to be seen, but for now, Luke Beveridge needs to keep his side locked in on a North Melbourne outfit that could potentially catch them off guard.

Wayward kicking was again the theme of the day for the Doggies down south, while the only two positives were a couple of players likely in line for All-Australian honours – Marcus Bontempelli and Adam Treloar.

North fans have little to celebrate themselves after letting a win slip through their fingers against West Coast.

The Roos won just about all the key statistical battles, but allowing three goals in the final three minutes, plus a quiet game from Nick Larkey, helped cement a devastating five-point loss.

With a potentially pivotal clash ahead next week in Ballarat against the Giants, you have to think this is a ‘get right’ kind of game for the Dogs, one they simply won’t lose.

Then again, this team is prone to inconsistencies and let downs, but look at it this way, if they lose to North, they probably don’t deserve to play finals, anyway.
