Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury 2 Tips, Betting Preview and Odds

Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury 2 has been dubbed ‘Unfinished Business’ and everyone that has even a slight interest in the ‘Sweet Science’ will be tuning in to witness history.

We haven’t see a boxing fight with this much interest since possibly Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao in 2015 and unlike that fight we have two undefeated boxers, fighting in the prime of their careers.

The first fight back in December 2018, ended in a controversial split decision draw and had more drama than a Home and Away script.

The rematch will take place at the MGM Garden Arena on Sunday 23rd February (AEDT) and our full Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury 2 Preview can be found here.

Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury 2 Betting

The punters are struggling to split the two heavyweight champs, as did the judges in their first encounter, with Tyson Fury holding slight favouritism at $1.91 and Wilder at $2.00. The draw or technical draw price has been set at $19.00.

In the Method Of Victory market, Deontay Wilder is unsurprisingly favoured to win by KO at $2.38 with a decision win being $9.00.

Many pundits though Tyson Fury, despite barely beating the count, won the first fight by decision and that’s the way the punters think he’ll win if he does. He is $2.50 to win by decision or $6.00 to win by KO.

Deontay Wilder vs Tyson Fury Recent Form

Both fighters have gone on to have two fights since their draw in December of 2018.

Deontay Wilder made short work of Dominic Breazeale in New York City in May of 2019. He knocked the American out inside the first round in brutal fashion.

He then went on to fight Cuban Luis Ortiz in Las Vegas late last year. Ortiz may be 40 years of age but he is a genuine contender in the Heavyweight division and his only loss came in the first fight between the pair in 2018.

Luis Ortiz was winning the fight on all three judge’s scorecards before he was knocked out with that devastating right hand of Wilder in the seventh round.

Tyson Fury has also won twice in between fights with Wilder. He won via second round TKO against German Tom Schwarz in Las Vegas in June before taking on Swede Otto Wallin.

Wallin was an undefeated fighter going into the fight in Las Vegas and Fury didn’t have it all his own way throughout the fight. He was cut above his right eye in the third round but comfortably won a unanimous decision from the judges.

How Deontay Wilder Can Win

Do I need to state the obvious here?

We may never have seen a Heavyweight fighter that possesses as much power in their punch as Deontay Wilder.

This is a division that has seen the likes of Mike Tyson, George Foreman and Joe Louis!

Deontay Wilder isn’t the prettiest fighter to watch but to suggest that he is a one-trick-pony would be false. You don’t win a Heavyweight world championship without being able to defend yourself and move freely.

We can’t sit here and pretend that his biggest asset and weapon isn’t his punching power however and his best chance of winning this fight is to end Fury’s night inside the distance.

He will need to be patient, just like he was against Luis Ortiz, and find the right time to unleash his overhand right and throw plenty of combinations to keep Fury guessing.

How Tyson Fury Can Win

Out: Ben Davidson
In: Javan ‘Sugar’ Hill

Tyson Fury has brought in Sugar Hill as his trainer to add another element to his game and work on his punching power and strength.

Sugar Hill has trained an incredible 41 world champions and has worked with boxing legends like Lennon Lewis, Evander Holyfield and Wladimir Klitschko.

It is incredible to watch 6 ft 9 in Fury move around a boxing ring. He is light on his feet, his defensive boxing skills are second to none and he pairs his jab with his power punches beautifully.

Twenty of his 29 wins have come by the way of knockout and whilst his best chance of winning this fight is to outlast Wilder’s power punches and gain a decision by out boxing the WBC champ, I wouldn’t discredit his KO abilities either.

Our Prediction

Whichever way you look at this fight it is going to be an absolute classic. It will break records and make the two men an extremely large sum of money and depending on the result may even set up a trilogy fight or a fight against Anthony Joshua.

Deontay Wilder was quite happy to be patient during his last fight to Luis Ortiz and he is very confident that it is just a matter of time before he can land that big punch. And why wouldn’t you be? He’s managed to separate his opponent from his consciousnesses 40 times in 42 fights!

Many people had Tyson Fury winning the first fight on points and if he can manage to box until the final bell, I think he will win the fight.

It is a game of cat and mouse and one that will have the world’s attention. .
