Australia’s odds of winning the 5th Ashes Test and completing a 5-0 sweep of England have firmed from $1.70 into $1.60 at Sportingbet due to heavy support for the home side.
Prior to the First Test at the Gabba last November, Australia’s odds of winning the Ashes series 5-0 were as much as $67 at Sportingbet.
“Before the 1st test, for every bet we took for Australia to win 5-0 we were writing ten for England to win by the same result,” Sportingbet’s Andrew Brown said.
“The small number of patriotic punters that had faith in an Aussie clean sweep back then now look set to be rewarded,” Brown said.
England’s odds of winning the 5th test have drifted from $4.20 out to $4.50 at Sportingbet, while a draw is also $4.50.
Aussie skipper Michael Clarke is a $4.00 favourite ahead of David Warner at $4.25 to score the most 1st Innings runs for Australia, while Mitchell Johnson is a $2.50 favourite ahead of Ryan Harris at $3.75 to take the most 1st Innings wickets for Australia.
