Wicketkeeper Brad Haddin will get a clear signal of his future when Australia name their latest one-day squad on Tuesday.
Haddin’s status and a replacement for injured captain Michael Clarke will be major talking points of the new Australian squad.
Clarke will miss Friday’s one-dayer against Sri Lanka in Sydney with a hamstring strain, but hopes to return to action on Sunday.
Scans revealed Clarke suffered a slight strain to his right hamstring, injured during Australia’s loss to India last Sunday in Adelaide.
While Ricky Ponting could be summoned to again lead Australia in Clarke’s absence, the future of Haddin looms large when the squad is released.
Selectors rested Haddin from the initial three one-dayers in the tri-series, with the 34-year-old saying it felt liked he was dropped.
His replacement, Victorian Matthew Wade, performed well with both bat and gloves to challenge Haddin’s standing as regular one-day keeper.
