Hogg fined over on-field incident

Perth Scorchers spinner Brad Hogg has been fined 20 per cent of his Big Bash match fee following an on-field involving Melbourne Stars batsman David Hussey.

Hussey was run out by Scorchers captain Simon Katich during Monday’s game at the MCG and then lingered near the fielding team’s huddle and exchanged words with Katich, before later revealing on Network Ten that it was Hogg who lit the fuse.

“He told me where to go,” Hussey said.

Hogg, 42, has accepted the fine and is free to play in the Scorchers’ knockout semi-final against Sydney Sixers at the MCG on February 5.

The former Test bowler was reported by the umpires for breaching Article 2.1.4, “using language or a gesture that is obscene, offensive or insulting during a match”.

“Hogg admitted to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction from match referee Daryl Harper – a fine of 20 per cent of his match fee,” Cricket Australia said in a statement on Tuesday.

A hearing was not required.

It was two-time World Cup winner Hogg’s first code-of-behaviour offence.
