Off-season recruit Usman Khawaja will make his Sheffield Shield debut for Queensland against South Australia next week.
Khawaja, along with former NSW teammate and returning Queensland player Nathan Hauritz, have both been named in the team for the clash with the Redbacks at the Gabba starting on Monday.
All up there will be four changes to the Bulls team which defeated Tasmania in last summer’s Shield final with Steve Magoffin having moved to England and Chris Lynn, Alex Kemp and Ryan Harris all not picked.
Along with Khawaja and Hauritz, batsman Peter Forrest and fast bowler Ben Cutting have been picked in the 12 for the season opener.
Qld squad: James Hopes (capt), Cameron Boyce, Joe Burns, Ben Cutting, Luke Feldman, Peter Forrest, Chris Hartley, Nathan Hauritz, Usman Khawaja, Alister McDermott, Andrew Robinson, Wade Townsend (12th man to be named).
