Seamer Ellyse Perry has sent England an ominous warming ahead of the women’s Ashes Test claiming 3-49 in her first match in almost five months in Australia’s 116-run win over England A.

Perry showed no signs of the ankle injury that troubled her in Australia’s world cup win in February and looks set to play a key role in the one-off Women’s Ashes Test beginning in Wormsley on Sunday.

Dual international Perry was ably supported by teenage tearaway Holly Ferling who secured figures of 2-27 and looks set to make her Ashes debut.

Spinner Jess Jonassen was most impressive for the visitors with 4-18 but is behind Erin Osborne in the reckoning for Test selection.

Earlier in the day Australia were bowled out for 350 with opener Meg Lanning leading the way with 104.

Kate Cross (4-48) was the leading wicket-taker for England Women’s A.

England Women’s A were bowled out late in the day with opener and captain Lauren Winfield topscoring with 74.

The Women’s Ashes series also includes three one-day internationals and three Twenty20 matches.
