Sixers could sign Champions League hero

Sydney Sixers boss Stuart Clark says they could still re-sign their Champions League T20 batting hero Michael Lumb despite adding Pakistan star Umar Akmal to their roster for the Big Bash League.

Free-scoring middle order batsman Akmal will be available for the first three matches of the BBL campaign for the defending champions and recently crowned Champions League winners.

He is the second import unveiled by the Sixers following West Indies spinner Sunil Narine.

Clark said Akmal was a good young batsman and fielder. He has played 26 T20 internationals for Pakistan, averaging just over 30.

Clark said there was still a possibility Sydney could re-sign Lumb, who won the Golden Bat award in the recent Champions League tournament with a competition-leading tally of 226 runs.

The South African-born England T20 representative was man-of-the-match in the final after scoring an exhilarating 82 not out off just 42 balls.

The Sixers on Tuesday also announced they had signed local top order batsman Daniel Hughes for the BBL this season.

Clark said the Sixers still had one more place on their roster for a local player.
