Tasmanian captain George Bailey has won the toss and sent NSW in on a green-top for the Sheffield Shield match at Bellerive.

Test discards Phil Hughes and Usman Khawaja will open the innings for the Blues, with Steven Smith to bat at No.3 and Simon Katich at No.4.

NSW have named spinner Nathan Hauritz 12th man.

Matt Johnston will carry the drinks for the Tigers.
