Victoria build lead in Shield clash vs WA

Victoria are building a lead on the third day of the crucial Sheffield Shield clash with Western Australia at the WACA Ground.

After trailing by 24 on the first innings, the Bushrangers were 0-128 at lunch on the third day, with Rob Quiney on 66 and Chris Rogers on 55.

Both batsmen have looked in total control at the crease, scoring at four runs an over.

Victoria scored 277 in their first innings, and WA replied with 301 on the second day to take first innings points.

The Bushrangers, who had an overall lead of 104 runs, must win the match outright to stay in the hunt for the Shield final and were aiming to set the Warriors a challenging fourth-day run chase.

A win to the Warriors will almost certainly ensure they host the final.
