Aussie Richie Porte has moved from a rank $67 outsider to win this year’s Tour De France into the third line of betting at $10 with online bookmaker sportsbet after defending champion Chris Froome pulled out with injury overnight.
Italian Vincenzo Nibali is now the man to beat, firming from $2.75 into $1.91 with Spaniard Alberto Contador ($2.63) his only real threat.
“There’s been some patriotic punter sup-Porte for Richie but the odds tell us that he’ll need the likes of Vincenzo Nibali and Alberto Contador to suffer the same fate as Froome in order for him to be sipping champagne on the final day of the race,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Ben Hawes.
Porte is now into $3.75 to finish the TDF on the podium and $1.20 for a top 10 finish but remains a $26 outsider in the King of the Mountain classification.
