Chairman’s XI win toss and bat v Sri Lanka

Chairman’s XI skipper Usman Khawaja won the toss and chose to bat in the three-day match against touring Sri Lanka at Canberra’s Manuka Oval.

Scott Henry and Marcus Harris were to open the batting for the hosts as Sri Lanka gained their first hit out on Australian soil ahead of their three-Test series.

Sri Lanka rested star spinner Rangana Herath and vice-captain Angelo Mathews but fielded a strong squad headed by captain Mahela Jayawardene and key batsman Kumar Sangakkara.

Fast bowler Chanaka Welagedara was recalled after missing the past seven months with a side strain and groin injury.

Both teams were permitted to use 12-man squads.
