Tait wants to wipe spin from T20 map

Express bowler Shaun Tait wants to wipe the ‘spin to win’ theory off the Twenty20 cricket map.

But his Adelaide Strikers’ coach Darren Berry is yet to be convinced Tait can do it.

The tearaway Tait has played just two Twenty20 matches in six months leading into the second Big Bash League starting this weekend.

But Tait is confident he can prove fast bowling can sway T20 matches as much as Berry’s favoured spin-to-win policy.

“I will try and wipe that (policy) off the map this year hopefully,” Tait told reporters on Tuesday.

“Chuck (Berry) is a big fan of the spin-to-win attitude.”

Berry hoped his preferred tactic of using multiple spin bowlers could be proven wrong by Tait.

“I hope he does – I would like nothing more than for Taity to wipe that off the map. Taity could be a lethal weapon for us,” Berry said.

But first, Tait must prove his fitness for the Strikers’ BBL campaign.

“He has been working hard over the last six weeks,” Berry said.

“We think he’s prepared and ready to go but, ultimately, the test will come this week in our trials and whether or not he’s selected in the first game.”
