Rod Pampling is adamant he won’t lose his tour card again after a solid start to his 2012 US PGA Tour season.
Pampling finished in a tie for eighth at Torrey Pines, giving his bank balance a hefty $US162,000 boost and setting a great platform for the year.
A poor 2010 season left the Queenslander without a card in 2011 but with gritty determination he battled from the past champion category.
In limited starts Pampling was able to scrape into the top 125 money list in 124th place and earn his place back on tour for 2012.
Now, with an early top 10 in the books, his confidence is once again sky high.
“I am very happy with a top 10. It is a great catalyst into the season,” Pampling said.
“It was a good week and I got a lot of good things out of it.
“It helps a ton because it just helps take a lot of pressure off. As much as you try and freewheel it most weeks, it is much easier to do when you know you have some money on the board.”
Pampling will head to Phoenix next week full of confidence and hopes to use the momentum to post another high finish.
“The form is great so I have no reason not to be confident,” he said.
“Phoenix is a great course to play when you are playing well because it gives you lots of opportunities to go for a lot more pins so that’s exciting.
“I won’t change my game plan much but when the opportunity arises I will be aggressive and go from there.”
