The iconic backdrop of the Monterey Peninsula comes into focus this week as a field of 156 descends upon the Pebble Beach Pro-Am in California.
This year’s tournament is somewhat lacking in talent and depth, leaving plenty of value on offer with Jordan Spieth and Matt Fitzpatrick both at single figures, and last year’s winner Tom Hoge not far behind at the $17 quote.
This is the last tournament to feature multiple courses with Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill, and the Monterey Peninsula’s Shore Course all in play, and as usual, the weather will likely play a role at some point.

Pebble Beach Pro-Am Best Bet
Tom Hoge at $17.00
I’m not normally one to back a defending champ, but after prevailing by a couple of strokes over Jordan Spieth last year, the 33-year-old should have plenty of confidence on his side.
Diving a little deeper though, the greens at Pebble Beach are among the smallest on TOUR, making Greens in Regulation a key metric heading into the weekend.
Hoge ranks 16th in that department, while he’s also been in sharp form so far this year finishing in a share for third at the Sentry, and closing strongly at both the Sony Open and The American Express.
Pebble Beach Pro-Am Best Value
Maverick McNealy at $17.00
It’s easy to make a compelling case for McNealy this week.
The 27-year-old is a California native, so he should feel right at home, but more importantly, he’s held his own at this tournament in recent years finishing fifth in 2020, runner-up in 2021, and just outside the Top 30 last year.
Weather is always the biggest factor at this tournament, and it’s worth noting the wind is forecast to be at its worst on Friday during the opening round. McNealy is averaging 67 in first round play so far this year, good for 13th best on TOUR.
Seamus Power at $19.00
As mentioned earlier, this year’s tournament is lacking a little in talent and depth, so if you have a guy that you find yourself playing on several times a year, this might be the week to back him.
For me, that’s Irishman Seamus Power. The 35-year-old continues to improve with age, and he seemingly played some of his best golf this time last year finishing Top 15 at the Sentry, Sony Open, AMEX, and Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
That form has somewhat continued this year with Power finishing T25 at the Sentry again last month.
He hasn’t been seen since but comes in ranked ninth in Strokes Gained: Putting and Top 20 in Strokes Gained: Around the Green.
Pebble Beach Pro-Am Best Value
Russell Knox at $61.00
Unlike Torrey Pines last week, Pebble Beach isn’t a course that suits the long bombers. Instead, the surrounding cliffs and water call for accuracy and a consistent approach with the irons, making Strokes Gained: Approach the Green, another important statistic this week.
Scotsman Russell Knox ranks sixth on TOUR in the category, and looking back at his resume, he’s had a great deal of success at this tournament.
The 37-year-old has finished Top 30 on five occasions, with his best finish being a share for seventh back in 2021.
Kevin Streelman at $81.00
Streelman’s recent form isn’t anything to get excited about, but in terms of horses for courses – or maybe tournament’s – the American is your man.
Streelman has finished Top 10 at this event in four of the last five years with a runner-up in 2020 being his best result.
We’ve spoken plenty about the Pebble Beach course, but navigating the treacherous conditions of Spyglass Hill is also a must this week. Streelman ranks among the Top 10 in Strokes Gained: Total at Spyglass, so if you want a guy that has proven capable of handling the wind, look no further.
