Sony Open Golf Tips, Odds and Betting – 2022 Waialae Country Club

The Sony Open marks the second leg of the Aloha Swing, and it all tees off this Friday from the Waialae Country Club in Honolulu.

All eyes will be on Cameron Smith in the first full-field event of 2022 as the Aussie hopes to build on last week’s record-setting win at the Sentry Tournament of Champions.

Last year’s winner Kevin Na returns to defend his crown, while Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama also sits towards the top of betting alongside PGA Tour mainstay, Webb Simpson.

With golf back in full swing, our best bets for the 2022 Sony Open can be found below!

Sony Open Best Bet

Cameron Smith @ $10.00

If we’ve learned anything about this tournament in recent years, it’s that playing the week prior in Maui is very beneficial.

Seven of the last eight Sony Open winners competed the week earlier at the Tournament of Champions, the same event our very own Cameron Smith won last week.

Not only did Smith set a new PGA Tour 72-hole scoring record of 34-under par, but he also climbed 11 spots on the world rankings into No. 10 for the first time in his career.

As far as Waialae goes, Smith’s record speaks for itself. He won here in 2020, and hasn’t missed a cut in six appearances.

Bet Now: Cameron Smith

Sony Open Best Value

Talor Gooch @ $29.00

The current FedEx Cup points leader, Gooch has quietly put together some handy form of late.

The American won the RSM Classic late last year before venturing to Kapalua last week where he ranked ninth in Strokes Gained: Tee to Green on the way to a T15 finish.

His putting has been the only letdown so far, but he does know this course well having finished T18 a few years ago.

Bet Now: Taylor Gooch

Sony Open Best Roughie

Chris Kirk @ $61.00

There are a few decent names at triple-digits this week, but I think Chris Kirk represents the best (and perhaps most reliable) value.

The 36-year-old hasn’t done much of note recently, but he does have a ton of experience at Waialae to his name over the last 10 years.

Kirk has finished T2 twice and Top 30 on five occasions, and his reliable short game could see him bounce back this weekend.
