The 152nd edition of the Open Championship is set to tee off from the Royal Troon Golf Club, with players and fans eager to see our winner drive, chip and putt their way to an Open Championship.

Past winners of the coveted Major include Phil Mickelson, Rory Mcilroy, Collin Morikawa and Australian Cam Smith.

Defending champion Brian Harman will have a tricky task ahead of him since the last time someone won back-to-back Open Championships was Padraig Harrington in 2008-09.

We’re expecting 156 players, with that number being cut down to 70 ahead of the final two rounds over the weekend.

Fore will be called and mash potato will be shouted, but who will walk off the 18th green on Sunday as your next Open champion?

Ludvig Aberg continues to shock everyone who watches him play.

He hasn’t been on tour for a year and this will be his first Open Championship but since joining, he’s been playing sublime golf – nearly winning the Masters and narrowly missing out on the Scottish Open.

He is one of the best putters on tour, there I said it.

The rising Swedish superstar had a couple of minor stumbles this year, however, I believe this is the time for him to win his first major.

Aberg is definitely one to keep in the black book and I think a play on him to win isn’t a bad shout whatsoever.

BEST VALUE – JON RAHM

Top 5 Finish: $6.00

I haven’t been too keen on Rahm throughout the Majors, however, the bookies have got him at $26 at the time of publication and I can’t say no to that.

Rahm has been critical of his own performance by his standards, but the reality is that he’s one major away from a great season.

His numbers show that he’s finished in the top 10 on all but one LIV event which is impressive in all fairness – with the one being him pulling out without finishing due to a toe injury.

In his last four Open Championship campaigns, he’s finished as high as Tied 2nd and 3rd and as low as Tied 34th, which is remarkable.

Rahm may not be having his best season, but he’s a true contender this weekend, which is why I’ve selected him as my value bet

BEST ROUGHIE – TONY FINAU

Top 10 Finish at $5.00

Tony Finau outright and I have a love-hate relationship, but all is forgiven if he can salute as a $41 shot at the time of publication.

The numbers are there, he’s finished tied 18th or better in his past five starts, which is inclusive of but not limited to the PGA championship and the US Open.

Only eight weeks ago, Finau was ranked 30th in the world, now he’s climbed to 18th and he’s climbing to greet Scottie Scheffler at the top.

His control, underappreciated short game and the slower greens will give him a great chance to win.
