US Open Golf Tips, Odds and Betting – 2023 Los Angeles Country Club

The third major of the year has arrived and boy, has a lot happened since the PGA Championship!

The PGA and LIV Golf have sensationally merged! As is the case with absolutely everything, the almighty dollar has done all of the talking, and by the looks of things, everyone will be back together as one happy family from 2024 onwards.

Thankfully, it’s time for the actual game to do the talking again, and the best players in the world will descend on the North Course of the Los Angeles Country Club for the 2023 US Open.

It’s the 123rd edition of the famed tournament and as always, there’s plenty of value to be found in US Open betting.

Perhaps for the final time, I’ve divided my preview and US Open Tips into the best players from both the PGA Tour and from LIV Golf, and always had another crack at a Golf Same Game Multi!

PGA Tips

Scottie Scheffler ($7)

He opens favourite in betting for nearly every tournament that he plays, for good reason. Scottie Scheffler is an absolute star.

He might be yet to record a Major win this season, but Scheffler is almost never far away from the winner’s stall and hasn’t finished worse than a T3 in his last three tournaments; the PGA Championship included.

He’s fit, in form and will take a power of beating in LA.

Viktor Hovland ($15)

Historically, he’s never been ‘one of mine’, but I am really starting to believe that Viktor Hovland is doing, and a major win is imminent.

The twenty-five-year-old Norwegian has finished T7 and T2 at The Masters and the PGA Championship respectively this season, but added plenty of other Top 10 results to his CV, including a win at The Memorial Tournament last time out.

The $15 we’re getting for him in US Open betting (at publish) is outstanding value in my opinion, and I think that this shapes as the perfect major for him.

Matt Fitzpatrick ($26)

For a bloke who was as strong and consistent as he was in 2022, it’s fair to say that Matt Fitzpatrick has mixed his form on Tour this year, and that has driven up his price in 2023 US Open betting.

He was cut at the PGA Championship last month, but other recent results include a win at the RBC Heritage, as well as Top 10 finishes at The Masters and The Memorial Tournament.

Having shown glimpses recently of a return to more consistent golf, I’m more than happy to have him in my numbers this week.

LIV Tips

Brooks Koepka ($10)

Probably the easiest inclusion in my entire US Open preview, Brooks Koepka is the most recent Major winner, and having found him at that tournament, I don’t see any reason why we should be jumping off.

Koepka has steadily returned to form since the beginning of the LIV Tour, and after going so close at The Masters, he was a fitting winner in New York last month.

I’m of the belief that his two Major performances have been key to the PGA coming to the party in this recent merger with LIV, and I can’t find any real reason why he won’t be right in the finish of the final round again this week. His swagger has well and truly returned.

Bet Now: US Open

Mito Pereira ($67)

Looking a little further down the order for my second LIV selection in US Open betting, and I thought that Mito Pereira was capable at $67.

Pereira famously led the PGA Championship for 54 holes in 2022 before nerves got the better of him on the final day, and he is another player that has continued to tune up as the LIV season has progressed this year.

While he might not have the complete game to win in Los Angeles (he also might), he certainly has the means to battle into the Top 10 ($8 at publish) and Top 20 ($3.50), and he looks to be a bit of value in betting for both.
